Alex Telles has sent a sign to Manchester United that he wants to completes a move after continued delays
The full-back has become the new priority for the Red Devils in the transfer market, with interest “intensifying” over the last two weeks.
It has not been easy between the clubs, though, with the €40m [£36.6m] release clause proving a sticking point as United want to take €15m off it due to the end of his contract approaching.
But The Telegraph have reported that the defender will be doing everything he can to push the move through.
Telles has “signalled his determination” for a transfer to Old Trafford as United have been trying to push his price down - and Porto are “aware” of his plans to make the transfer happen.
The clubs continued to be divided over the transfer fee on Wednesday night but the deal would proceed quickly if a compromise is agreed.
United’s transfer target has spent five seasons at the Portuguese side, scoring 26 goals in nearly 200 appearances.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees him as competition for Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams, having missed out on Sergio Reguilon to Tottenham.
But the Porto star’s own comments suggest he has his eyes on a move to Old Trafford.
"I’m a guy who focuses a lot on work, people believe what they want, say what they want in the newspapers, but the most important thing is to be focused on my work," Telles told Sport TV last week.
“You know that and so do my teammates, whatever happens, I’m focused on the club, I’m here, I’m playing."
It comes as United legend Dimitar Berbatov will need to shift their focus to another position quickly after signing Telles.
While Solskajer has been sent a warning over their chances of winning trophies if they do not complete more business.
