Raul Jimenez ends Man Utd transfer speculation as he signs new Wolves contract

Raul Jimenez wants to “make history” with Wolves after ending speculation about his future, by signing a new four-year-deal with the club.

Manchester United and Juventus had both been linked with the Mexican international, who has enjoyed two prolific seasons at Molineux.

Initially signed on loan from Benfica in 2018, Jimenez has netted 46 goals in just 103 appearances under Nuno Espirito Santo.

He’s started this season in fine form as well, scoring twice in the opening three Premier League games of the season.

That form had attracted some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with the 29-year-old admitting the interest was “flattering”.

He has also made no secret of his desire to play European football, after Wolves narrowly missed out on the Europa League for the second season in a row.

“I already had the luck to play some games [in the Champions League for former club Benfica]. It’s something incredible and it’s in my plans to play again, but first I have to do what I have to do with Wolves,” he said earlier this month.

However, only 12 months after signing his initial four-year contract, the Wolves No. 9 has penned a new contract that ties him to the Midlands club until 2024.

Speaking after signing, Jimenez said: “Delighted to be here, delighted to be at this great club.

“They give me all the confidence, the opportunity to be an important guy at the front. I’m here to make my history here, I want to be one of the best strikers.

“I have to keep working, this club has something special and I’m part of a big family and that’s why I'm here.”

Jimenez becomes the third integral part of the project to agree to a longer stay this summer, after head coach Nuno Espirito Santo and skipper Conor Coady both signed new contracts.
